MANUFACTURING
In general, Pigment and Metallic foils have release coatings, color coatings, and adhesive size coatings.
Pigment foil manufacturing begins with dissolution of resins, addition of pigments and solvents, mixing, then grinding of the "paint." The paint is then matched and may need to be reground. Metallic foils have a transparent dye coat as well as a metallized aluminum coat. All foils must be ready to internal specifications before they are proceeded to the coating machines.
Our coating machines are basically rod and gravure type methods. Foils are usually manufactured on 48 and 60 gauge polyester film, but we can accommodate other thicknesses. Our coating machines are totally enclosed, such that solvents do not exit into the building or the atmosphere.
